A Cry for Help—Men Suffer, Too

Bobbi Gordon, YANA Chair

Losing a spouse or life partner is a life-changing event that affects every facet of living.

In an effort to help new widows living in Quail Creek, members of The Women of Quail Creek (TWOQC) created the outreach group known as YANA (You Are Not Alone).

YANA members offer support to Quail Creek widows by reaching out with resource handouts to help transition through the challenges of becoming a widow. Because of YANA’s outreach within Quail Creek, TWOQC members have been asked to assist in creating a similar group for Quail Creek widowers.

We need you. YANA committee members are looking for any male residents willing to be part of a widowers-focused outreach group. Members of the group will offer helpful information, tips, and tools and practical resources/strategies for coping and moving forward. Remember, you do not have to be a widower—just a man willing to help during a time of need.

If you are interested in becoming a part of such a group, please contact Bobbi Gordon, YANA committee chair, at [email protected] or join YANA committee members on Thursday, July 7, at 1 p.m. in the Madera Clubhouse Gold Room for more information.
