A Cinco de Mayo Carnival

Carole Ann Fougere

Cinco de Mayo came in with strong winds on Sunday, but it was no match for our resident tennis pro Donna Yuritic who organized a ladies’ carnival as part of the Quail Creek Tennis Club’s annual Cinco de Mayo festivities. Our tennis ladies participated in teams for relay games of dribbles, limbo dancing, and target shots, all while keeping their eyes on the ball and their backs to the wind.

Under the guidance of the QC Tennis Club Social Committee, led by Dinah Shumway, a delicious taco bar with all the Mexican fixings, salads, and desserts was thoroughly enjoyed by all 80 participants. Curt and Kathy Haug kept the fiesta flowing with their delicious magic mixer fruit concoctions.

The event would not have been complete without a piñata, and our tennis members had a chance to serve a few balls to try and knock it over. Congratulations to Kurt Kohler who managed it with an ace, a testament to the camaraderie and fun that was shared.

Our QC Tennis Club is thriving, and we welcome members at all levels. Our ambassador program makes joining the club effortless and will guide you through organized play opportunities, tournaments, socials, and clinics.
