As part of their 20th Anniversary Celebration in 2023, the board of the Lady Putters decided they wanted a new look on the putting green during their weekly putting sessions. It was Denny Huber and Denny Fost from the Quail Creek Woodworking Club who made their desires a reality.
The two Dennys used maple wood and stainless steel rods to create the new hole markers, shaping them on a computerized numerical control (CNC) machine. A CNC is a computerized manufacturing process in which pre-programmed software and code control the movement of production equipment.
The markers were etched with the hole number, the Quail Creek logo, and “Quail Creek Lady Putters” and sanded and sprayed with a protective coating. The etching process alone took about one hour to complete three markers, so after the design phase was completed, it took another six hours of labor before the markers were ready for use.
The Lady Putters paid for materials and then donated to the Woodworking Club in appreciation of the time and talent Denny Huber and Denny Fost contributed to the finished product.
Putter Kathy Dorr also made covers in a variety of colors to mark the holes.
