Make a Special Relay Sign In Honor or In Memory of Someone Touched By Cancer

Ginny Hutcheson

Is there someone right now who is going through cancer treatment, and you would like to do something special for them? Have you lost a loved one and want to help support the cure for cancer? Do you like to walk in a park-like setting? Join the Quail Creek Fights Back Relay For Life team at the annual Green Valley/Sahuarita Relay For Life event on April 6 at Rancho Resort Park, 15900 S. Rancho Resort Blvd., anytime from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. to walk in honor of someone special or in memory of someone who lost their cancer battle.

The opening ceremony for cancer survivors and caregivers starts at 11 a.m., and the luminary lap, with luminaria bags lining the track, will be at 7 p.m. Food, raffle prizes, local youth performances, music, and games will be offered throughout the day.

Have a special sign made in honor of or in memory of someone and walk the track (less than a block), lined with signs remembering so many. Have family members remembered or a business advertised and help raise funds for cancer research for the American Cancer Society. A unit could have a sign made remembering those in their unit who have been touched by cancer. Decorate a luminaria bag with the name of someone special for $5, and the team will announce the name at the luminaria lap.

To have a luminary bag for $5 or a sign made up and displayed on an H frame for $100, contact Team Captain Ginny Hutcheson at [email protected]. The dollars go to provide patient programs and cancer research through the American Cancer Society. To sign up for the survivor/caregiver walk and social, go to www.relayforlife.org/gvsahuaritaaz and register for the Quail Creek team. Help the Quail Creek team reach their $15,000 goal by donating or having a sign made.
