Becky Barrow and Lynne Johnson
Quail Creek residents Becky Barrow and Lynne Johnson took home bronze medals in the U.S. Tennis Associations 7.0 Women Super Senior National Tournament in Surprise, Arizona, on April 26, 27 and 28.
Playing for Himmel Park in Tucson they helped their team win the 2012 Spring League. In December the team traveled to El Paso, Texas, to compete in the Southwest Regional Tournament. They defeated Albuquerque, El Paso and Las Cruses to win the Southwest Championship.
Sixteen regional teams from across the nation competed for the National Title in Surprise. The Himmel ladies defeated New Jersey, Northern California and Nevada to move into the semi finals. They lost a hard fought match to second place finisher Hawaii. They rebounded to beat Virginia Beach to place third in the nation. Long Island, New York, won first place.
Becky and her partner won four of their five matches while Lynne and her partner finished one and one.
