Unit 23 Highlights: Stirring Up Sunshine and Community Spirit
Carole Berg
Every Quail Creek unit has its own unique character, and unit 23 stands out for its welcoming spirit, humility, and strong sense of connection.
Located just east of Quail Crossing Boulevard, extending beyond unit 22 and curving slightly north from Quail Range Loop, this 98-home neighborhood reflects how one person’s enthusiasm can positively influence an entire community.
Patti Nutting, unit 23’s representative, stepped into her leadership role in 2025 with natural ease. Originally from Michigan, Patti spent 25 years in Southern California before moving to Quail Creek in 2023. With experience in event planning, she embraced the opportunity to foster greater involvement through activities centered on fun and compassion.
A key to unit 23’s success has been its activity committee, which meets monthly to plan events and share ideas. This collaborative approach lightens the load and helps ensure activities reflect the interests and needs of the community. Contributing to these efforts are dedicated “silent partners,” including former unit representative Carol Mutter, Doug Mutter, Tesse Hagerich, Jan and John Agner, Debbie Logan, and Alice O’Conner.
While the group has strong support, Patti is currently seeking a co-representative to assist with meetings and responsibilities as needed. It is a meaningful opportunity for someone who would like to stay engaged and contribute to the neighborhood.
Flexibility and a positive attitude are hallmarks of unit 23. On a recent gathering day, when temperatures rose into the mid-90s and a planned bocce ball game was no longer feasible, the group simply shifted plans and enjoyed time together at the Grill instead.
The unit has hosted a variety of well-attended and engaging events, including coffee socials that regularly draw more than 25 neighbors, a holiday chili fest, a new Sahuarita food bank project, and a popular cul-de-sac party featuring live music by Bill Foraker. Other activities have included an ice cream social during the cooler months, a ladies’ Pictionary gathering, and a themed witches luncheon at the Grill.
Beyond the events themselves, what truly defines unit 23 is the way neighbors support one another. Whether through sharing meals, offering time, or simply being present, residents consistently show care and compassion in meaningful ways.
Several units within Quail Creek are currently seeking representatives and co-representatives. Those interested in becoming more involved are encouraged to contact unit chair Bobbi Gordon at ogbg@sbcglobal.net.

Unit Representatives Club News
Carole Berg
The Unit Representatives Club welcomed two new representatives and two new co-reps in March! The Quail Creek club opened their second meeting of 2026 on March 17. We were thrilled to welcome our newest reps: Deb Nesbitt, (unit 29A) and Pam Shepherd (unit 14A). If you know Pam and Deb, give them a high five for volunteering to step up for their units. And if you’re in Unit 14A or 29A, keep an eye out for their friendly faces! 14A has 66 homes, while 29A has 32 homes. That’s a big responsibility and they are looking for their co-reps and others to support the upcoming activities.
We were also pleased to announce two new co-reps: Steve Stephens from Unit 15, and Lin Sanford who has stepped down from the Rep position for Unit 29A. These co-reps are the instigators supporting and providing the needed extra help to keep the fun going and deserve high fives for stepping up into the golden unit volunteers.
Not sure what a unit rep or a co-rep does? In short, they help keep our “mini neighborhoods” (known as units) connected, informed, and thriving. They welcome new residents, share important updates, deliver the annual Source Book and map, and spark fun social activities. Plus, they meet every other month to exchange ideas that make Quail Creek an even better place to live.
Primary or co-reps are needed for Units 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 13, 14A, 14B, 15, 18, 21A-Homes, 21A-Villas, 27, 30/30A-E, 32, 33A-Homes, 33A-Villas, 33B-Homes, and 33B-Villas. It doesn’t take much time, and it’s a wonderful way to meet neighbors and give back. If you own a Villa, we’d especially love for you to consider stepping in—Villas now have their own reps to focus on their unique needs.
And, if you don’t know which unit you reside within, just give a call to member services with your address and they will be happy to enlighten you!
