The monthly Quail Creek Billiards Club (QCBC) in-house tournament was held on Feb. 7. Ten players competed in the game of 10-ball. The format was double elimination, so each player had to lose twice to be eliminated.

The final two players in the winner’s bracket were Terry Haggart and Bob Coulter. Haggart emerged victorious after a hard-fought “hill-hill” game, best two out of three.

Since that was Coulter’s first loss, he dropped to the one-loss bracket and played Manny Quijada. Quijada became the winner of the one-loss bracket after winning the sudden death match.

Quijada then matched up against Haggart for the best of two out of three games. Quijada won 2-0. Since this was Haggart’s first loss of the day, they then had to play a sudden death match to determine the winner.

The final game had its exciting moments, and after the dust cleared, Haggart was the winner. It was an exciting tournament.

Other QCBC players in the tournament included Bobbo Baker, Jim Hall, Dwight Hildebrand, Stuart Lisk, Kay Mertes, Pat Nigro, and Jay Quakenbush. Skip Jones, the tournament director, encourages more QCBC members to participate in the in-house tournaments. He says they are an excellent way to improve your game.
