The Third Friday Book Group of The Women of Quail Creek (TWOQC) gathered in the Ocotillo Room of the Kino Center on a Friday morning in December. The women discussed Small Things Like These, by Claire Keegan (c. 2021).

TWOQC Book Club was formed in 2020 during COVID-19, and they held their book discussions through Zoom. They have met ever since on the third Friday of the month, continuing to use Zoom so that snowbirds and those travelling can join in the discussion of the current book selected. However, once a year during the holidays, they meet in person and discuss books to read in the coming year.

TWOQC also holds Themed Book Groups throughout the year, which meet at a member’s home. No specific book is read, but the women share their titles and authors on a certain subject. Some of the past subjects have been Women in Science, Favorite Classics, Cookbooks, Nature Writing, Historical Fiction, Dynamic Duos, Children’s Books, Authors from Your Home State, Books You Would Like to Re-read, and The Books on Your Bookshelf You Haven’t Read Yet. The subject for January is On the Road.

Third Friday Book Zoom is organized by Daryl Ragan and Cindy Hogg. Marjorie Williams facilitates the Themed Book Groups; however, all the women contribute to lead discussions on Zoom or to host a Themed Book event. New and lasting friendships among the women have been formed through their love of reading.

The Third Friday Book Group welcomes members of TWOQC to join in the book discussions on Zoom or at a Themed Book gathering. Join TWOQC if you want to be part of this vibrant, insightful, and engaging group of women who love books and the ideas they inspire. See the TWOQC website at www.womenqc.com.
