Caring Hearts & Hands Launching Baby Shower Activities

Connie Vaughan

Caring Hearts & Hands of Quail Creek (CHHQC) is preparing to hold its annual Military Baby Shower for the 162nd Wing of the Air National Guard in Tucson on National Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 17. Thirty soon-to-arrive new patriots will be “showered” with new baby items, which are packaged and delivered to the Morris Air National Guard Base in Tucson on the day of the Shower. This Baby Shower is for the enlisted military families only who have the greatest need for help at such a joyous yet stressful time. Many of these families’ military spouses may be called back into deployment to the Middle East. To alleviate some stress, CHHQC members will once again be busy sewing baby items and working with the QC Quilt Covey for baby quilts and receiving blankets, along with requests to residents for donating new baby clothes and monetary donations.

The need is especially critical for new baby clothes in 3- to 12-month sizes, accepting boys, girls, and neutral outfits. Collection dates will start April 14 through April 28 for drop-offs at the Madera clubhouse in the wicker baskets marked “Baby Shower Donations.” In the meantime, if you want to get a head start on baby shopping, donations can be dropped off at the following locations (where there will be marked baskets for donations):

531 N. Keyes

2085 E. Cypress Canyon Drive

2680 E. Sawyer

2285 E. Copper Valley Way

1528 E. Dahlia Drive

Thanks in advance to the Quail Creek residents for their continuing support of this worthwhile activity.
