February meeting
Quail Creek Republicans jam-packed the Ocotillo and Mesquite Rooms at the Kino Conference Center with more than 140 in attendance to hear National Border Patrol Council Vice President Art Del Cueto give the facts about the immigration crisis at the Southern Border. Officer Del Cueto addressed the crowd and answered questions for over an hour on Friday morning, Feb. 17.
Officer Del Cueto confirmed that the ports of entry in the Tucson sector only apprehend approximately half the undocumented immigrants crossing our border. The Tucson sector has the highest rate of “getaways” (those who are not caught) in the country. He emphasized that the Border Patrol does not have full operational control of the border. These conditions may continue unabated until we see significant change at the federal level with immigration law enforcement.
The Quail Creek Republican Club (QCRC) continues to grow. QCRC President Rich Ulery welcomed seven new members joining within the past few months. Rich also announced the upcoming events, including the March 15 bus tour to the Arizona State Capitol. Members will enjoy lunch and a private meeting with State Senator David Gowan, a tour of the Capitol and Museum, and the opportunity to attend both committee and general sessions of the Arizona Senate. And on April 21 our club will welcome our newly elected congressman, U.S Representative Juan Ciscomani.
