Awaiting our turn to tour the museum.
On Thursday, February 12, a lively group of Quail Creek day-trippers arrived at the Tucson Museum of Art for two docent led tours. Due to the popularity of the current exhibits, we decided not to try to find spaces in the museum parking lot. Instead, we parked very conveniently in the El Presidio garage about a block away from the museum. Arriving for our reservation a bit early, we enjoyed looking over the many beautiful items in the museum gift shop. Because our group was too large for a single tour of the historic J. Knox Corbett House, one of the museum’s historic mansions, we split into two groups. While the first group learned about the Corbett family and the American Arts and Crafts Design era, the second group started their day with The Figure Examined, the current exhibition on loan, featuring famous artists such as Rodin and Degas. In the afternoon these two groups saw the opposite exhibits. All agreed that tours lasting just one hour were not long enough to see everything, but just whet our appetites for future exhibits at this fine museum. Lunch at Café a la C’Arte was fresh and fabulous. Luckily, we did not have time for dessert! For those who may be interested, the museum has on hand both wheelchairs and stools on wheels for those who may not be able to stay on their feet for more than a few minutes at a time.
