On Saturday morning, November 1, The Women of Quail Creek will be sponsoring its annual clothing drive for homeless veterans.
It’s a great time to clean out closets and donate clothing and small household items to men and women who have served the country well. Suggested items for donation include coats, sweaters, knitted hats, scarfs, backpacks, jeans and slacks. New and gently used clothing will be accepted if used items are clean and in good repair; however, underwear and socks must be new. Small appliances, kitchenware, linens and other small household items are needed for veterans going into housing.
Notepads, greeting cards, razors and travel and full sized toiletries can be used by patients in the VA hospital.
Winter residents, when cleaning and organizing for returning to Quail Creek, may wish to bring articles back with them to help local veterans. In April TWOQC won a national award of $10,000 from USA Weekend, Points of Light and Newman’s Own Foundation in recognition of the community’s generous support of last year’s event. The money was given to the Tucson VA Hospital to further aid veterans.
Items may be dropped off from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. in front of Madera Clubhouse. Questions about the project should be directed to Peggy McGee at [email protected] or 520-207-6188.
