Thursday, October 6, 2016, Quail Creek TRIPS Educational Group will take 20 residents on a special guided tour of downtown Tucson starting at 8:15 a.m. in the parking lot by The Creative Arts & Technology Center to form carpools to drive to the San Agustin Mercado Public Market.

Inside the Mercado Courtyard we will meet our tour guide Jim Gressinger, travel writer, photographer and publisher of Southern Arizona Guide. There is an abundance of free parking there and this is where we board the Modern Streetcar. The tour will last about 3.5 hours. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring your camera.

Starting our tour we will each buy our own All Day ticket for the Streetcar. Jim will then lead us on a Historical Tour of Tucson using the Streetcar to learn about the historical information at some of the different stops. We will also visit other places of interest that are nearby the Streetcar route.

The tour will conclude at the New Charro Steak where will have reservations for lunch, not included in the price of the tour. After lunch participants can continue touring Tucson on the Streetcar route (if everyone in your carpool agrees) before taking the Streetcar back to the Mercado.

Thursdays the Mercado has a Farmers Market in the afternoon for shopping before heading back to Quail Creek. Please check with your driver first.

Registration is $25 per person which includes the tour guide, entrance fee to any museum and reimbursement for driver of the carpool vehicles. Additional cost per person will be $4 for the All Day Streetcar Pass and the cost of your lunch.
