Ladies golfing groups plan another benefit for charity

The three ladies golf groups (Quail Creek Ladies Golf Association, the Niners, and the Putters) will be hosting their third annual golf charity event, Bewitched Fore Charity, on Thursday, Oct. 31. The planning committee selected three new charities, all in the local area. Hands of a Friend, which supports victims of domestic abuse, will be invited to return again this year.

Keeping with the idea of providing assistance to organizations that span all age groups, the ladies have decided also to support the Sahuarita Food Bank, Youth on Their Own, and Friends in Deed. The latter has provided durable medical equipment to many Quail Creek residents. Donors to any or all four of the charities are eligible for a dollar-for-dollar credit on their Arizona tax return, even if they don’t itemize. Credits of up to $400 for single filers and $800 for those filing jointly are available up to the limit of their tax liability.

In addition to members of the golf groups, the 9-hole golf tournament is open to all female residents whether or not they have a handicap. True non-golfers can sign up for lunch only.

Because the pro shop will be closed for overseeding beginning on Sept. 16, golfers should check with their respective golf club for times and prices. Barring a heavy downpour the day before, there will be no restrictions on the course. Non-handicapped golfers and lunch-only participants may check What’s Happening for ticket sales information.

In addition to golf prizes, there will be door prizes for all attendees as well as a split-the-pot raffle. Raffle tickets will be six for $5, 14 for $10, and 30 for $20. Half of the proceeds will be split among the four charities, with the other half divided among four lucky winners.
