For the past ten years, the Ladies 9-Hole Golf Association (QC9LGA) has sponsored a Junior Golf Tournament with the Continental Middle School. The tournament follows the physical education golf unit, during which the students learn the basics of golf and are required to pass exams concerning the game. At the end of the golf unit, 18 boys and 18 girls are selected on the basis of their understanding of the game and skills to play 9 holes of golf with the ladies of the QC9LGA. The entire eighth grade class plays at Tortuga the following day. Several Duffers have participated as golf mentors, and have brought back stories of how much the students enjoy this program.

In addition to volunteering as golf mentors in the past, the Desert Duffers continue to support this program financially. A check was presented to the QC9LGA President, Cheri Sipe, to help defray the cost of this program.
