For the second consecutive summer, Quail Creek Writers and Poets Club members put their indoor time to good use by writing, editing, compiling, and publishing a collection of short memoirs through Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing. Seventeen club members submitted 19 slice of life stories to project coordinator Bob Rietschel and book editor Linda Beal to complete Pivot Points: Life Transitions That Made All the Difference.
The club’s 2023 summer project, The Power of Pets, detailing stories of members’ past and present pets, was so well received last fall that the writers (and poets) chose to take a deeper dive this summer to chronicle life events, or transformative decisions, that changed the direction of their lives forever.
Some of the more intriguing chapter titles are: “An Angel in the Park;” ”Father Knows Second Best;” “You Can’t Do That Here!” “Greta Garbo, Tallulah Bankhead, Here I Come;” “Running on Adrenaline;” and “There’s This Boy.” It promises to be a most enjoyable read.
The book cover was designed by club webmaster David Bareiss. Pivot Points is now available on Amazon.com. Limited copies may be borrowed from the Quail Creek Library for two-week loans. The authors also plan to make copies available at the Nov. 2-3 Fall Festival at the Madera clubhouse.
Club members wish to thank Linda, Bob, and Dave for their leadership and conscientious efforts to complete this second enjoyable summer writing project.
