Recently, several members of the Writers and Poets of Quail Creek group took part in the Discover Quail Creek event. President Paul Riggins, with authors Barbara Ayers, Yasmin John-Thorpe, and Audrey Fatula welcomed curiosity seekers asking for information about the QC group.
“I handed out printed copies of our Mission Statement to many queries,” stated President Paul Riggins. “It answered questions like, who we are, what we do, and where we are going.”
The writers and poets also displayed books and publications they had authored. Several in attendance purchased copies of published books, which were dedicated and autographed by the authors.
During the upcoming March 19 meeting, author Steve Brown has been invited to make a presentation to the writers and poets. The group is looking forward to his presentation and are arming themselves with questions for the author.
The Writers and Poets meet the first, second, and third Thursday for each month. The first and third Thursday meetings are at 2 p.m., in the Kino Centre. The second Thursday meeting is a planning session, and is held at 9 a.m. at the Madera Clubhouse in the Copper Lounge. Everyone is welcome!
