The Women of Quail Creek are proud to be sponsoring a WWII veteran for an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. to recognize and pay tribute to him, or her, for the tremendous service given in behalf of America and the cause of freedom. As part of a nationwide program, Honor Flights select veterans from all branches of our Armed Forces to travel free with an escort to the capital and visit the WWII Memorial which honors the surviving heroes of that conflict and their fallen comrades. For many of the veterans, the opportunity to see the memorial is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. With each passing day, the number of surviving soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines significantly dwindles so now is the time for us to express the country’s gratitude to these brave servicemen and women.
The veteran sponsored by TWOQC will be traveling from Arizona to Washington on a June flight. Many in the greater Quail Creek community may also wish to help show appreciation to our veterans; a great way to do this is by writing a personal letter thanking individual veterans for their service to our country. The letters collected will be distributed to each veteran traveling on an Honor Flight during the month of June to read on the long trip. Letters can be addressed to Dear Veteran as the names of the individuals taking the flights are not yet known. At the May 19 general meeting, TWOQC will learn more about Honor Flights and the inspiring stories about the program.
