Tom Bruno presents the Prickly Pair Cactus Trophy to Rose Welliver

It was just one year ago that the QCLGA 18 hole golfers challenged the QCMGA to a total net score tournament, men flighted with women to compete for the Prickly Pair Cactus Trophy and bragging rights. To their great surprise and dismay, the men took the trophy!

Thursday, August 8, 2013, they had their revenge. The men’s association hosted the day that started with a 7:30 a.m. shot gun. Two man teams of women pitted against two man teams of men in a Partner Match Play tournament. The day was complete with a luncheon and the announcement of the winners. A rousing cheer went up when President Tom Bruno declared the women the winners and then presented the trophy to President Rose Welliver. The ladies’ group will host the tournament next summer.

The men’s and women’s golf associations would like to thank their committee members for a job well done. They are Rudy Natalini, Fred Doyle, Roy Barnes, Jerry Colbert, Tom Bruno, Rose Welliver, Nancy Hoppe and Francie Walker. A special thank you also to Harvey Trott for his work on the scoring.
