Valley Assistance Services (VAS) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) that has been assisting residents in the Greater Green Valley area for more than 50 years. This year, VAS will be hosting its first-ever yard sale on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 1 and 2, from 8 to 11 a.m.

VAS has been undergoing construction projects for the past two summers and discovered some items that could be sold. A yard sale was proposed to create a new fundraiser and engage the community. Since then, several people stated that they are willing to donate to help raise funds for the many services that VAS provides in the local community. Some of these programs include rent and utility assistance, benefit advocacy, a diaper bank, RN advocacy, fall prevention programs, classes such as diabetes education, support groups for caregivers, and grief support.

VAS is increasing its fundraising and hoping that this yard sale will generate some much-needed revenue to enable it to expand its services.

VAS is asking for donations of clean and gently used items in the following categories: artwork, home décor, sporting goods, jewelry, camera equipment, household items, small kitchen appliances (blenders, bread makers, Instant Pots, slow cookers), holiday decorations, and pet supplies. They ask that no clothing or furniture be donated.

Items may be dropped off at VAS at 3950 S. Camino Del Heroe between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. from Nov. 27 through Nov. 30. Suggested asking prices would be appreciated but are not mandatory. Donations will be acknowledged after the sale.

The yard sale will run from 8 to 11 a.m. on both Dec. 1 and 2 in the VAS courtyard. Those coming to shop are asked to park in the GVR Rec Center parking lot, directly across the street from VAS. Cash and checks will be accepted for payment.
