TWOQC’s annual clothing drive kicks off this month

Cindy Mayron
The Women of Quail Creek’s annual clothing drive for homeless veterans kicks off this month to start collecting boxes and to encourage residents to start cleaning out their closets and cupboards (TWOQC does not have a place to store donations until October). Mark Saturday, October 19 on your calendars to drop off your mens’ fall and winter clothing, paper goods and household goods (for transitioning veterans). Women’s clothing will not be accepted this year.
The committee is collecting boxes now until October! Last year’s volunteers collected 8,771 items, packed 446 boxes and filled two 8-ft. box trucks, three pickup trucks and some SUVs to transport the donations to the VA Center in Tucson. Each year the number of donations has increased!
Sizes of boxes needed: 18×18 in. and 22×22 in. boxes; two wardrobe boxes with hangers and 15 dishpak boxes. Flatten your boxes (sorry, no appliance or furniture boxes) and call Mary Lehman at 520-399-0707 to schedule a box dropoff.
