Monday, June 29 The Women of Quail Creek will have a summer luncheon in the Ballroom. The theme for the day will be American Cowgirls Celebrate the Fourth. Ladies are encouraged to dress in the spirit of the day by donning western duds and/or wearing patriotic colors. Photos will be taken.
The bar will open at 11:30 a.m. and will feature a specialty drink of prickly pear margaritas for $4. The meeting will commence at 12:15 followed by lunch at 12:30 p.m. Menu for the event will be chicken salad stuffed tomatoes with strawberry shortcakes for dessert. There will be lemonade and ice tea.
Following lunch, entertainment by Ballet Folklorico San Juan will transport the audience south of the border. Under the direction of Julie Gallego, dancers from the Viva Performing Arts Center will perform authentic Hispanic folk dances dressed in the traditional brightly colored costumes of Folklorico. San Juan has been a part of the Tucson community since 1987. Some of the dance groups from the school have performed at Disneyland and International Mariachi festivals in Las Vegas, Phoenix, Denver, Guadalajara, Acapulco and New York.
All members of TWOQC are invited to attend. The cost is $18 per person. Tickets will go on sale at the May 18 monthly meeting. Tickets will also be sold Thursday, June 11 from 10:00 a.m. until noon in the Madera Lobby. The summer luncheon is always a popular event so members would be wise to purchase tickets early. The final cutoff date to purchase tickets will be June 20.
Attendees are asked to bring food, hygiene, cleaning and paper products for the annual Food for the Troops collection. Checks may be made payable to GV MOAA Military Assistance.
