An inspiring benefit concert for college scholarships presented by the popular Gatekeepers of Ironwood Hills Church was held Saturday, November 5 at the Sahuarita United School District Auditorium. Featuring patriotic traditional selections, the concert was hosted by The Women of Quail Creek (TWOQC) and the Sahuarita Educational Enrichment Foundation (SEEF) to support scholarships for female seniors from Sahuarita and Walden Grove High Schools. The talented Gatekeepers are an outreach ministry of the church and throughout the year they take their message into shelters, correctional facilities, adult care homes, military organizations and the University of Arizona.

As part of the program, members of the Jr. NROTC from Sahuarita High School gave The Presentation of Colors and servicemen and women in the audience from the four branches of service were recognized. TWOQC also conducted a lively silent auction of gift baskets and art work.

As part of Veterans Appreciation Week, a basketball game between Sahuarita district faculty and students was held at Sahuarita High School on Thursday, November 10 to further raise funds for these college scholarships. This is the second year of this scholarship initiative by TWOQC. Last year two $1000 scholarships were presented.

TWOQC and SEEF would like to thank members of the Quail Creek community who supported this event through their attendance and their generous donations. In addition, sincere appreciation goes to the many local businesses that provided support through sponsorship or through in-kind contributions for the silent auction.
