On February 25, The Women of Quail Creek and our local Relay for Life team, Quail Creek Fights Back, held a sold-out fashion show fundraising event for the American Cancer Society. Over three hundred women gathered for lunch, a fashion show, silent auction, 50/50 and gift basket raffles and an all-around fun time while raising nearly $18,000 for cancer research and support for cancer survivors in southern Arizona.
As participants lunched on a special razz spinach salad created by our own Chef Aris, they enjoyed a fashion show put on by two popular Tubac boutiques, Sole of Tubac and The Crowe’s Nest. Eight Quail Creek resident models showcased beautiful ensembles of casual wear and accessories and everyone was given a discount coupon to use at the shops.
The Silent Auction featured many handmade items from a stained-glass piece to a handmade leather backpack, along with unique experiences such as a tapas party and narrated hike in Madera Canyon. Fifty-eight gift baskets were raffled to the delight of winning ticket holders, while the winner of the 50/50 raffle went home with more than $2,000!
“This is our premiere event to raise money for our Relay for Life team,” said Ginny Hutcheson, chair of Quail Creek Fights Back. “Every year we raise thousands of dollars for cancer research and we’re making a difference. We know, because cancer survival rates are getting better and better.”
Lisa Johnson, TWOQC Fashion Show Chair, said, “This was my first time as a committee chair and it was a wonderful experience. Thanks to Pam Rodgers, my co-chair, and all my hard-working team members, the Quail Creek staff and everyone who attended the event. It was so much fun!”
