American Cowgirls Celebrate the Fourth, TWOQC’s summer luncheon takes place Monday, June 29 in the ballroom. All members of the club as well as guests who have not previously attended a TWOQC function are invited. Ladies attending are encouraged to dress in the celebratory spirit of the day by donning western duds and/or wearing patriotic colors. Photos will be taken with Uncle Sam. Contact Nancy Wilson at [email protected] or 207-6830 for tickets. Tickets cost $18 per person. The final cutoff day to purchase tickets is June 20.

TWOQC meeting will commence at 12:15 p.m. followed by lunch at 12:30 p.m. Chicken stuffed tomato salad with blueberries over mixed greens, rolls and strawberry shortcake for dessert will be the menu for the day. There will be lemonade and ice tea. The bar opens at 11:30 a.m. and will offer prickly pear margaritas for $4.

Following lunch it’s fiesta time! Entertainment by Ballet Folklorico San Juan will transport the audience south of the border. Dressed in the brightly colored costumes of folklorico, talented young dancers from Viva Performing Arts Center will perform traditional Mexican folk dances that combine elements of Mexican culture, history and folklore. Under the direction of Julie Gallego, Ballet San Juan has been a part of the Tucson community for over 25 years. Dance groups from the school have delighted audiences at the International Mariachi Festivals in Las Vegas, Phoenix, Denver, Guadalajara, Acapulco and New York.

Attendees are asked to bring food, hygiene, cleaning and paper products for the annual Food for the Troops collection. Checks should be made payable to GV MOAA Military Assistance.
