On a bright and sunny day, Nov. 14, The Women of Quail Creek (TWOQC) On-The-Go group explored downtown Tucson, riding a modern Sun Link Streetcar.
The streetcar is free, and the adventure started in the Mercado District just outside the bustle of downtown Tucson. It was, of course, essential that the group stop at Estrella Bakery—a taste treat not to be missed!
Hopping on and off the streetcar, we stopped at the Southern Arizona Visitors Center, offering detailed maps of the Tucson topography, along with colorful local and historical displays.
Other spots included Ben’s Bells, a local nonprofit institution specializing in ceramic bells and inspiring intentional kindness as a way of life. We passed the historic Congress Hotel, and lunch was at The Monica, a restaurant with a cool, modern-day hangout vibe.
We then rode the streetcar to Old Main and the University of Arizona bookstore, where we were almost persuaded to buy U of A crop tops.
Everyone returned home tired, but much more knowledgeable about downtown Tucson. Thanks to my On-The-Go co-guide Celia Shevlin for helping make this a great outing!
