The Green Valley Chapter Military Officers Association extends its deep appreciation to all those in Quail Creek who supported their Food for the Troops campaign over the Fourth of July weekend. Your donations of 371 pounds of groceries really helped fill the pantry shelves at the 162nd Fighter Wing, Arizona Air National Guard (AZANG.) Of this amount, 64.2 pounds of groceries and $150 were collected at The Women of Quail Creek luncheon on June 27. Another 243 pounds came from an anonymous donor.

In addition to all the food, you made this year’s monetary donations for the program the best yet. After paying the lucky winner, the 50-50 raffle netted $333 and other donations totaled $294. These funds will be used to purchase turkeys for the junior enlisted troops at Thanksgiving time.

Your generosity amazed Barbara Gavre, Family Readiness Program Manager, AZANG, who fortunately was able to pick up all the food with an Air Force truck. She sends a big thank you to Quail Creek for remembering the troops who continue to put themselves in harm’s way to preserve our country’s freedom. TWOQC also gave Ms. Gavre clipped and sorted coupons totaling $5185.41 to help the troops when they go grocery shopping or eat at local restaurants after their drill weekend.
