More than 100 members of the Quail Creek Republican Club gathered on Oct. 18 at Longhorn Bar & Grill in Amado for the 2024 Election Barbeque. President Pat Colburn welcomed all the attendees and introduced Republican candidates running in the Nov. 5 General Election. All three of our state legislative candidates, Reps. Gail Griffin, Lupe Diaz, and State Senator David Gowan, were present, along with Pima County Sheriff candidate Heather Lappin, Board of Supervisors candidate John Backer, and Pima County Treasurer Chris Ackerley. Sahuarita Town Councilwoman Diane Priolo also attended. All the candidates circulated throughout the room, conversed with club members, and stressed the importance of every Republican casting a vote in this critical election.
The Longhorn staff prepared and served a fabulous BBQ meal, including smoked barbecued chicken and ribs, baked beans, coleslaw, and a peach-berry cobbler for dessert, which was enjoyed by all.
The next meeting of the Quail Creek Republican Club is on Friday, Nov. 15, at 9 a.m. in the Kino Conference Center. Our featured speaker is Bruce Ash, president and CEO of Paul Ash Management Company in Tucson. Bruce was elected in 2016 to a four-year term as the national committeeman of the Republican Party of Arizona. He was also the chairman of the Republican National Convention Standing Rules Committee at the 2016 Republican National Convention. Bruce will do an analysis of the 2024 election results and discuss the future.
