Spectacular isn’t the only word to describe this occasion!
The sixteenth annual Rally for the Cure, an all day event that took months of careful planning, was fun, fulfilling and fantastic!
The QCLGA (18 hole club), the Quail Creek Lady 9ers and the Quail Creek Lady Putters named this year’s event Hear Me Roar In Pink with a logo created by Kandi Roy.
The day began at the Madera Clubhouse buzzing with registration, a beautiful raffle display and the staging of four golf competitions. Eileen Sykora was on hand taking pictures of each of the four women teams and action shots around the grounds and presented a slide show during the luncheon.
After golfing, all the ladies joined the other women of Quail Creek back at the clubhouse for a celebration of cancer survivors. Cheri Sipe read the names of 44 women as they were escorted to the stage by Russ Sipe and Frank Hewitt and then were given a rousing standing ovation by all the women present. The three presidents, Gail Phillips, Sharon Paxson and Dee Waggoner each spoke to the membership, Sandi Hrovatin sang the song and Cyndy Gierada played the piano and keyboard all adding to the emotion of the day.
Sharon Hayes announced the winners of the raffle, Mary Lou Kiger the winners of the 50/50 drawing and Joel Jaress the winners of the golf competitions. The lunch was a delicious salad and baked potato bar well presented by Eppi and her team.
The Rally is held every October in conjunction with the Susan G. Komen Organization to raise money for research and a cure for breast cancer. The Quail Creek lady golf associations have raised more than $120,000 over these past 16 years! Well done, ladies!
The Rally for the Cure committee would like to thank all volunteers and donors that made the Hear Me Roar In Pink event a huge success.
Volunteers out on the three courses were Tim Phillips, Mike Martens, Carol Brett, Roger Shipley, Don Mounce, Jim Mowatt, Davey Jones, Ed Mancini, Bud Bencic, Randy Davis, J.B. Ranney, Sam Densler, Art Conner, Jerry Crane, Bill Gray, Russ Walden, Bill Paxson, Shel Zatkin and Rick Dawes.
