Quail Creek Veterans Golf Association Hosts Desert Hills Scramble

First-place team (left to right): Dave Banse, Paul Pantely, Jerry Olsen, Tim Nelson

Seventy-two Quail Creek residents enjoyed beautiful weather and the opportunity to play the private Desert Hills Golf Course on May 22. The 18-hole scramble event was hosted by the Quail Creek Veterans’ Golf Association (QCVGA). The competition was fierce but friendly, with the first-place team scoring an impressive net 51.7.

Prizes were also awarded to the second- through fourth-place teams, as well as to players who scored closest to the pin on the four par-3 holes. All enjoyed a delicious lunch served by Vickie Catering.

The QCVGA organizes two annual charity tournaments at Quail Creek—the Battle of the Branches in March and the Veterans Day Tournament in November. The Veterans Day Tournament is our major fundraising event, which helps local veteran support organizations in the Green Valley and Tucson area. To date, we have donated $3,000 to veteran-related charities. In between, the club hosts tournaments at local courses, such as Desert Hills, San Ignacio, and Sewailo.

Membership is open to all QC residents. Members enjoy early registration for VGA tournaments. Social memberships are available for nongolfers. For more information, visit the qcvga.com website.
