The 9th Annual Saguaro Classic was held on April 12 at the Quail Creek Air Gun Range. Twelve competitors from Quail Creek, Tucson, and as far as Phoenix competed in four events and three classes. The events consisted of targets at 50 yards and at 25 meters, silhouettes from 40 to 70 yards, and a “know your limits” event. The classes were Varmint, Open, and Unlimited. The classes are available so that shooters can compete against others with similar air rifles. There are two additional classes, consisting of Springer and Sportsman, so if you are interested, there’s a class for you. A good time was had by all at the event, which included lunch, and the Southern Arizona wind kept the competitors on their toes.
The highlight of the day was the award of the Saguaro trophy. Two were awarded. One went to Irwin Segerman who achieved a score of 1115 points in the Unlimited class, and the second went to Anita Teschek with a score of 1113 points in the Open class. There was excellent shooting by all, especially Irwin and Anita.
