Celebrate America! was the theme Cathy Nelms, Susan Kuehn and Barbara Erickson decided on when they began their plans for the annual Copper Quail Member/Guest Golf Tournament for the 18-hole Quail Creek Women’s Golf Association.

The two day event included gifts and raffle choices, a cocktail party, two beautiful days of golf and concluded with a luncheon in the Madera Clubhouse. Among the raffle prizes was an assortment of ten boxes each filled with items that were symbolic of the culture of each of the four states chosen from ten regions representing all of America, i.e. The West, The Southwest, The Plains, etc.

The grand finale was at the luncheon when all of the winners were announced. The Overall Winners of the golf tournament were Kathy Linn and her guest Diane Clavin for best net and Karen Stensrud and her guest Peggie Sullenberger for best gross. The best decorated box was The Plains, created by Linda Mendenhall, Laura Colbert, Susan Moberg, Nancy Planck, Mary Campbell-Jones, Sharon Bisping, Sonia Heeren, Karen Cofran and Diana Soderberg.

The box with the most tickets was The West created by Mary Lou Johnson, Linda Eckebrecht, Alice Dyke, Beth Davis and Nancy Hoppe. The best decorated golf cart prize went to Linda Mendenhall with her guest Deolinda Quinn.

There were also prizes for closest-to-the-pin, longest putt and low gross and low net winners in three places in each of the five flights.

The committee would like to thank their sponsors Robson Communities, Acra Construction, Bill’s Home Service Company, Madera Dental, Sherry Courson, realtor and Realtor Teresa Sullivan. They are also grateful to the 65 people who donated to the raffles and the 27 volunteers that made it all possible.

Another very successful event!
