The Quail Creek Men’s Golf Association held its thirteenth annual Member/Guest Invitational beginning on Wednesday morning, April 22 concluding with an awards banquet on Friday evening, April 24.
The Planning Committee recruited over sixty sponsors for this event. The tournament consisted of 66 two-man teams playing in 11 flights. Player registration took place on Tuesday afternoon in the Madera Clubhouse where the sponsors had an opportunity to meet and chat with the players.
Formal competition kicked off Wednesday afternoon with each two-man team playing five nine hole matches within their flight during the three day event. The First Place team from each flight was awarded a cash prize and Pro Shop gift certificates.
A tournament raffle, conducted throughout the event, concluded on the last day of competition when more than 90 prizes including iron sets, drivers, putters, golf bags, GPS systems and golf foursomes at area courses were won by participants. Big Break and Chipping Contests were conducted on Wednesday morning while a Putting Contest was held on Thursday morning.
Players also participated in daily Closest to the Pin contests for cash prizes as well as Hole-in-One contests for the opportunity to win a new golf cart. Although there were no hole-in-ones on the golf cart holes, on Coyote No. 8, which was sponsored by EZGO/Tucson Golf Cars, Jim Palmer made a hole-in-one and was awarded a set of Nike VRS Convert 2.0 irons. Congratulations, Jim!
