Colors of the day worn by all were pink and red. The ladies and their sweethearts planned the perfect day! Weather could not have been better as they left for their 1:30 p.m. shotgun out of the Madera Parking Lot headed for the Roadrunner Course. There were 72 players and it was a full field! Everyone was back to the clubhouse in record time. Some chose to go home and change for the dinner and others were comfortable socializing immediately after their game!
The no host bar opened at 5:00 p.m. and a wonderful buffet dinner was served at 5:30 p.m. including salmon, roast beef, string beans, salads, breads and fruit dessert topped with ice cream. The tables had red felt hearts with lots of festive decorations including the pink and red napkins. Golf poems were read as well as a recipe for a happy life! The men took part in guessing the number of tees in a container and winning a prize! Guests of honor were Joel Jaress and his fiancé Bobby Jo Huffman. Joel did the honors of announcing the four team winners from each flight. Jan Topolski, one of the tournament chair members, was in charge of the pairings and also took photos and helped Joel with the First Place winners of each flight. Karen and Art Conner were first place in the A Flight, Marcia and John Sobel were first in the B Flight, Althea and Harold Crtichlow were C Flight winners and Joyce and Roy Barnes took first place in the D Flight. As the ladies left The Crystal Ballroom that evening each were given a long stem red rose! A good time was had by everyone!
