Linus Lerner returns to the podium in February to lead the Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra in a superb concert of Romantic Period greats. An overture, a concerto and a symphony will kick off the 2015 part of the season.

Opening the concert will be Franz von Suppe’s Overture Light Cavalry that will get everyone’s gitty-up going. Following will be Beethoven’s outstanding three movement Concerto for Piano, Violin, and Cello in C major, The Triple Concerto. Soloists will be Melanie Chae, piano, Edwin E. Soo Kim, violin and cellist Zoran Stilin.

Following intermission will be the Slavic masterpiece Symphony No. 8 in G major by Antonin Dvorak. This work is the third of a trio of Bohemian greats by Dvorak that includes Symphonies 6 and 7. This work follows the standard four movements which are marked fast-slow-leisurely-fast.

This concert will be performed at SaddleBrooke at the DesertView Performing Arts Auditorium on Saturday, February 21 at 7:30 p.m. and also in Green Valley on Friday, February 20 at 7:30 p.m. at Valley Presbyterian Church and in Oro Valley at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 22 at 3:00 p.m. For ticket or other information go to www.sasomusic.org.
