The Quail Creek Pickleball Club held a Fall Fest Mixed Round Robin Social on Oct. 19. Play was from 4 to 6 p.m., with a light dinner following. There were 72 players, with a few attending their very first social. Debbie Downes put together more than 400 photos of members to scroll on the big-screen TV. Bill Foraker set up the TV and provided music. Thanks to them both!
Dinner included Subway sandwiches, potato salad, chips, and pumpkin pie. Two pumpkins were filled with wine (Cindy Mueller’s idea), and other beverage choices were provided for everyone to enjoy. After dinner, names were drawn for prizes. President Dave Mungo was on hand to draw the winning names. If you didn’t win, you know who to talk to! Popular prizes were a glass pumpkin, a Halloween witch wreath, a pickleball cap, a 10th Anniversary sweatshirt (donated by a member), a pickleball T-shirt, pickleball specialty socks, and Goo-be-Gone. A 50/50 raffle was also held, with many players entering. One lucky winner, Ray Hayward, took home $100, and the club received the other $100.
The Social Committee found this to be a very successful event, because as the Clean-Up Crew (aka Social Committee) was leaving, there were still members visiting with each other and not in any rush to get home.
