Photos of the Year

The Photography Club of Quail Creek recently announced the photo of the year, a decision made by external judges who considered the winning photos of each monthly contest.

Shari Rodgers was recognized for her photo I Believe I Can Fly. In response to the notification, Shari responded, “It is an honor to have Photo of the Year, and congratulations to all who submit photos for each and every contest. If you are interested in photography, please join the club! This photo was taken at the Fast CAT run up in Tucson. Such a fun event, and the doggies love doing it. My goal was to get a dog with all four feet off the ground, and I was fortunate to have done so.” The judges noted the “great timing of capture” and how the “dog’s eyes are focused on the lure.” They also noted that the “soft background adds to the feeling of motion.”

Tom Cadwalader won second place with Saguaro Sunrise, which is included in the announcement of the December contest. The judges commented on the “magnificent capture positioning the sun between the cactus arms.” They added that “God’s rays are nicely rendered, and the foreground is lit enough to give a sense of place.”

Larry Hudson won third place with Pecans & Cheese, a photo of a cheese and nut plate taken at the RIU Hotel in Cancun. The judges considered it an “attractive still-life capture.”

The Photography Club is open to all Quail Creek residents. Additional information is available at www.pcqc.org.
