Photography Club of  Quail Creek makes plans for summer activities

Patricia Thoresen

After an active winter and spring, the Photography Club of Quail Creek heads into the summer with monthly meetings and photo workshops. This will be the second year of year round meetings and activities for the Photo Club.

The evening of June 10 found the PCQC members gathering at the Thoresen’s home for the second annual Potluck Slide Show. This annual gathering followed the May 13 meeting that presented the many ways for photographers to organize and prepare a slide-show movie. The many links to various free and for purchase software were demonstrated to the group. These links and notes are published on the PCQC website at

July 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the Gold Room, will find the Photography Club of Quail Club meeting to review a video presentation about photographing motion. At this get together, a half hour presentation from favorite photography presenter, Joel Satore, with the National Geographic Fundamentals of Photography video series, will be viewed. This will be followed by attendees trying out some of these techniques with guidance from notes and members who will help demonstrate camera settings to capture motion. All Quail Creek residents are invited to attend this presentation and participate in the workshop.

August 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the Gold Room, the presentation topic will be macro photography and low light. This video presentation by Joel Satore will precede a group hands-on workshop.

September 9 at 6:30 p.m. the Photography Club of QC will host video presentations on composition I and II. This hour long presentation will be followed by viewing some of the members’ own examples on how they successfully used composition in their photos.

As we proceed through the summer, the club is hoping to begin using the newly renovated Quail Creek Conference Room. Work is progressing well and promises to be an excellent venue for screening presentations to large groups. Watch for announcements in the Quail Creek daily announcements in your email. Members will be looking forward to regularly scheduled photo workshops on the first and third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. These workshops will begin when the new QC Conference center is completed.

All Quail Creek residents are invited to attend the monthly meetings which are held at 6:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month. Go to the club website for all details http//
