Nurses Give Honor to Whom Honor Is Due

Janine Baxter

July had the Nurses of Quail Creek gathering in the home of our own Jan Agner. After a delicious taco bar potluck, we were pleased to welcome and have a presentation by LeAnn Leslie-Larson, MS-Ned, RN, and Sandi Triplett, RN, BSN. These nurses are with the Southern Arizona Nurse Honor Guard. This organization exists to comfort loved ones and honor fallen nurses for their dedication and commitment in their compassionate service to others. Volunteer RNs from this group honor nurses who have passed at funeral services, memorial services, and graveside services. In addition, they visit nurses who are in hospice care and provide a short thank you ceremony. What a beautiful tribute to those who served others throughout their careers.

Our next event will be on Aug. 19. We will be meeting at 3 p.m. at the home of Carol Michels. We will be served root beer floats while learning to make decorative origami boxes. Each of us will be able to take our project home. In addition, we will be having a book exchange. Bring your favorite book to trade, or come with the name/author of your favorite book to share. Contact Carol at 310-709-7345 or bcmichels@me.com for details and to RSVP. As always, we want to make sure to invite all nurses in the Quail Creek community to join us.

We are always welcoming new members. There are no membership fees. We typically meet once per month, and nurses can participate in any and all activities that are of interest to them. If you have any questions, contact 2025 Chairperson Janine Baxter at janine_baxter@hotmail.com or 509-919-1399.
