A hush fell over the room at the August meeting of TWOQC as the women were transported back to the nineteenth century when Shirley Pinkerton, in period costume, portrayed The Story of Larcena Pennington Page Scott. Speaking quietly in first person, Shirley told Larcena’s remarkable story in such a way that the audience was completely spellbound. She brought her character to life, capturing for the audience a true sense of just how challenging and difficult life was for early Arizonans and what tremendous will and courage it took to survive. Fifty-eight women attended the meeting. Three lucky door prize winners received copies of the book, With Their Own Blood, a Saga of Southwestern Pioneers.
