It was a delightfully fun day. More than 240 members of The Women of Quail Creek partied in grand style as they celebrated their 10th year anniversary as a club on October 27. The women arrived, many in high tea attire, wearing hats and even some in gloves, to find The Madera Clubhouse Ballroom aglow with color thanks to Sandi Beach and her decorating team. Tables were graced with seasonal fresh flowers in fall colors to compliment the royal purple napkins. There were party favors for every attendee to take home, Champagne flutes embellished with a green TWOQC logo and the specially produced CD, Remembering…The Women of Quail Creek’s First 10 Years. A slide show, photo montages and scrapbooks provoked memories of the many activities club members enjoyed throughout the years.

TWOQC president Peggy McGee toasted the club in honor of the occasion as members raised their Champagne glasses high. Original board members Carolyn Ireland, Jan Howard and Suellen Vatter were acknowledged. Founding members Joy O’Farrell and Joanne Street were unable to attend.

Chef Aris outdid himself by preparing chicken salad stuffed tomatoes as the main course. Everyone wondered how he could possibly have gotten such huge red tomatoes in October. Not only were the plates beautiful, the dish was very tasty. After the brunch, the group enjoyed entertainment provided by The Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus.

Thanks go to the anniversary committee members who worked so diligently during the year planning to make the event memorable. Special recognition must go to Nancy Lammers who spent countless hours producing the CD given to all as a party favor, Mary Lehman for interviewing original board members and Marianne Cobbarrubias for designing and making displays and the CD label. TWOQC also thanks the Quail Creek event set-up and waitressing staff for doing such a great job.

TWOQC can’t wait to see what the next 10 years brings. The 20 year anniversary party will be a blast! For more information about the club and to view additional photos of the brunch and other club functions, visit TWOQC website womenqc.com.
