The Photo Club of Quail Creek has a field trip for its members every month, excluding the very hot summer months.

Helen Phillips, the trip leader, reported, “On Friday, May 12 nine members of the Quail Creek Photo Club traveled to St. Anthony’s Greek Monastery just outside of Florence, Arizona. Founded in 1995, it has grown to include several chapels, living quarters for the monks, a dining hall, bookstore, vegetable garden, vineyard, citrus orchards and an olive grove. All enjoyed the serenity of the gardens, gazebos and fountains and marveled at the ornate artworks in the chapels.”

Bill Martone, club member, commented, “I was amazed by the accomplishments of a few Greek Orthodox Monks since their arrival in 1995; beautiful gardens and courtyards, fountains, a church (St. Anthony’s), five chapels, living quarters, dining hall, multiple guest quarters and orchards. This is truly an oasis in the Sonoran Desert well worth the trip and the many photographic opportunities. Many thanks to the organizers. I certainly will return.”

The Photography Club of Quail Creek has numerous activities for its members. Consult the club’s constantly updated website http://www.pcqc.org as well as the weekday HOA What’s Happening for additional information.
