Liz Ashby and Joyce Shumate
You are invited to the Let’s Travel Club meeting on Sept. 20, which will be a presentation by the Border Community Alliance (BCA), which was established in 2013. They are a nonprofit organization based in Tubac, which has developed binational relationships with nonprofits in Mexico. They seek to encourage a more balanced narrative about Mexico to replace the media’s narrow focus on drugs, violence, and immigration with unique tours with groups of 10 to 15 people.
Anne Gibson, a third-generation Southern Arizona native, will discuss the unique tours they offer for the upcoming season. The tours fulfill each component of their mission statement: education, collaboration, cultural exchange, and social investment. They contract with expert guides in the location of each tour to create a thoughtfully curated and personal experience.
A private tour is planned for Let’s Travel Club members and will be announced. Sign-ups will be open to all attending this presentation on Sept. 20 at 2 p.m. in the Kino Conference Center, Ocotillo and Mesquite Rooms. We look forward to seeing you there.
