Decked out in holiday red and green, and sporting a variety of Christmas-inspired jewelry, the Quail Creek Lady Putters showed up to show their support for the Green Valley Food Bank. The annual Christmas in July collection is especially important to the food bank as their supplies are low because so many are traveling to get a break from the heat and humidity. Children who are used to getting breakfast and lunch at school are at home all day, further stressing a family’s food budget.
Food donations included mac and cheese, rice and beans, pasta and sauces, granola bars, cereal, soups, canned fish and meats, a variety of condiments, and lots of peanut butter, a protein rich staple for many diets. In addition to food, the ladies donated paper towels, toilet paper, facial tissues, laundry and cleaning supplies, and hygiene items such as soap, shampoo and conditioner. The Food Bank reported that 246 lbs. of groceries were donated.
In addition to the food, the ladies also contributed $365 in cash and checks at the event.
