Join MOAA for a Mix & Mingle

Peggy McGee

All military, Public Health, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration officers are invited to join the Green Valley Chapter, Military Officers Association of America’s (MOAA) Mix & Mingle on Oct. 17. The cocktail party will be held in the El Dorado Room in the La Perla building at La Posada. The purpose of the Mix & Mingle is to introduce eligible members and their spouses/partners to the Chapter and explain the benefits of joining.

The Green Valley Chapter, the third oldest Chapter in Arizona, is also one of the most active. Social events, which are typically luncheons or dinners, are held from September through May. In addition, the Chapter hosts the annual Food for the Troops collection at Quail Creek on Independence Day to support the Arizona Air National Guard. At Thanksgiving time, the Turkeys for the Troops program provides gift cards for the commissary to junior enlisted airmen from the Air Force Reserve and National Guard to enable them to prepare the traditional feast. At holiday time, they collect gifts for youth in the local area. They also award scholarships to JROTC cadets from the local high schools and provide stipends to veterans enrolled in degree programs at the University of Arizona.

There is a $25 charge to attend the Mix & Mingle, which will feature a variety of hors d’oeuvres. Soft drinks are complimentary, and there will also be a cash bar. Reservations are required and may be made by contacting Quail Creek resident Peggy McGee at [email protected] or 520-207-6188. The deadline to reserve is Oct. 11.
