All you cowgirls and cowboys sure outdid yourselves this year! The Women of Quail Creek’s (TWOQC) October 2024 Javelina Hoedown sold out at 324 tickets and set a record of money raised for scholarships. If you were there and bought one of the fabulous items in the silent auction or bought 50/50 raffle tickets, we thank you!
The silent auction was over the top! We are grateful for the generous donations from residents of the Quail Creek community, some of whom donated personal dining experiences, concerts, and liquor tastings, and we are grateful as well to the numerous area merchants in Green Valley, Sahuarita, Tubac, Tucson, Oro Valley, and beyond whose offerings were so varied—from gift certificates, golf packages, beauty services, and paintings to jewelry, glass art, and more. Truly something for everyone!
The 50/50 cash raffle jackpot was $3,500, split between TWOQC Scholarships and Robin Yonis, the lucky winner, for $1,750 each. Robin told us that she graciously plans to donate back $750 of her winnings to TWOQC Scholarships!
The chuckwagon dinner was delicious, so a big shout-out to Chef Aris, Epi Torres, and their banquet staff for such an excellent meal. And let’s not forget Bruce and Pam, our favorite event bartenders, who were very busy all evening keeping our glasses full!
The live band, Hardscrabble Road, was indeed the perfect band for this event, and judging from all the dancers on the floor, the music was very much to their liking.
The photo booth was a big hit again this year, and many wonderful pictures were taken. Decorations by Sandi Beecher and her committee made for a perfect western-themed event.
Let’s not forget, TWOQC’s Scholarship Matching Funds campaign is currently underway, thanks to a generous group of donors who donated $40,000 to be matched on a 2 for 1 basis. Forms and envelopes were on the tables at the Javelina Hoedown, but if you didn’t get one and wish to participate in this worthy endeavor, please send a check made out to TWOQC (with “Matching Funds” in the memo section) to TWOQC, P.O. Box 395, Green Valley, AZ 85614. You can also contact Director of Scholarships Deb Melton at [email protected] for more information. The campaign will run through February.
Yee Haw! Next year’s Javelina Hoedown will be on Oct. 23, 2025, so mark your calendars now!
