Bio on Dr. Shelley Humphrey, DVM:
Although I came from a family of engineers, I knew that was not my career path despite parental pressure! I grew up with pets of all kinds and knew at a young age that veterinary medicine was my calling. Since I can remember, my education and focus were always geared toward becoming a veterinarian. I love science, particularly biology, and most importantly love every kind of animal. My friends made fun of me because I could not kill ants on the sidewalk. (That’s still true today!) I became co-owner of Animal Care Center of Green Valley in 2010. When I’m not working I enjoy playing soccer and scuba diving.
Valley Fever is an often-unrecognized disease prevalent year-round in Arizona. This fungal disease is treatable when caught early; however, can be fatal if left undetected and untreated. Valley Fever is rare outside the Southwest, so people who travel from out of state with pets that become ill must let their veterinarian know that they visited this region.
Remember, please do not bring your pets.
