Greeting Cards in a Hyperconnected World—Still Important

Connie Vaughan

Are greeting cards passé in a world of Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and other online communication forums? Caring Hearts & Hands of Quail Creek (CHHQC) say no. Members have been creating and hand coloring individual cards over the last three years, and the demand for these cards keeps increasing. Quail Creek residents and friends outside of our community are constantly ordering cards from the CHHQC website.

Physical cards say, “I understand and care about what is happening to you.” The act of picking a card with the right message and adding your own special note lets the recipient know that you really care and took the time to send a special sentiment.

CHHQC knows this and offers over 320 different cards, from Birthday Greetings, Thinking of You, Just Because, Get Well, Sympathy/Pet Sympathy, and many more categories. Members sell these cards at the fall and spring Quail Creek Craft Shows, so be on the lookout for the CHHQC booth. And all these cards are available to order through our online catalog at the reasonable price of $2 per card. The link at the CHHQC website caringheartshandsqc.com for purchasing cards is Current Projects and Activities—Caring Hearts & Hands of Quail Creek.

CHHQC is a nonprofit organization, and the cards support our adopted charities: YOTO (Youth On Their Own) with its Back-to-School Challenge, fill the Mini-Mall and spice bags; LAPAN Sunshine Foundation (working with disadvantaged children in career and college counseling)—we provide holiday gifts and food; and the annual 162nd Air National Guard Military Baby Shower.
