Frightfully Fun Benefit Walk Contest Winners

Peggy McGee

It was a pleasingly cool morning as about 50 walkers set out on the Frightfully Fun Benefit Walk on Oct. 28. Most of the walkers joined the two-mile route. The Green Valley Fire Department set up canopies along the road where volunteer teens handed out water bottles to ensure everyone stayed hydrated.

Since it was a costumes-optional event, there were three judges: Randy Graff, president and CEO of the Green Valley/Sahuarita Chamber of Commerce; Kevin Murphy, editor of NABUR; and Patti Sherman, manager of Nancy Pantz Fashion in Green Valley. Although the walk was open to all residents of the Greater Green Valley area, all the winners came from Quail Creek, including Cruz the dog.

Cruz, who was disguised as the Lion King, was hands-down the winner of the best costumed-dog. His owners are Jack Davis and Angie Werner. The best costume prize was won by Mary Reeder. Pat and Jim Neel walked with Gillie and Piper.

Valley Assistance Services thanks all who participated in the walk and all the virtual walkers who made donations.
