First Quail Creek Turkey Trot

Thanksgiving morning brought out Quail Creek turkey lovers who ran or walked their way around the community. At 9 a.m. on Nov. 28, more than 75 Quail Creek residents, some with dogs, gathered at the bottom of the Grill parking lot for the first annual Turkey Trot to walk or run either the 1-, 2.3-, or 3-mile paths around the loop. The event was sponsored by the Quail Creek Running Club, working with the HOA in organizing the event.

“We used to have a friendly soccer Thanksgiving Day game with friends and their family back where I used to live pre-Quail Creek,” said Stuart Lisk, organizer of the Turkey Trot. “After talking with Melani a month before Thanksgiving, we thought it would be great to get people active and hold a community event on Thanksgiving morning. I am really glad the club was able to pull it off.”

“I enjoy walking and having the chance to also socialize on Thanksgiving morning with my neighbors and friends, which is why I decided to participate,” said longtime resident Kathleen Larsen. “I hope the turkey trot occurs every year.”

Besides being physically active by walking or running around the loop, participants had hot chocolate waiting for them at the end of their “trot,” and they socialized some more. A big thank you to Stefan Rockel, QC Food and Beverage director, and his Food and Beverage staff for supplying plenty of hot chocolate.

Hopefully, we will see you on Thanksgiving morning in 2025 for the annual Quail Creek Turkey Trot. Check out https://go.groupspot.app/fTbh
